Random Thought Of The Day - Vanity

This morning was as most mornings. Woke up, got ready for the day, and drove to work. Upon arrival at the Swan Island complex I popped out of my car and began to walk to the building where I work when I was stopped in my tracks by a car which parked not more than fifty feet from where I was standing. This was no ordinary car, oh no. It was my car. Well, it wasn't my car but it was the same make model and color as my automobile. I was dejected.

Since purchasing my Audi TT back in April I had only seen one other model in Portland which was similar to mine. I had greatly enjoyed owning a fast, stylish, and semi-rare (at least for Portland) car. But here I had found my automobile-twin. Out of all of Portland the other black 2008 Audi TT had to belong to someone working at the same company! Wow! And it was at this point in which I was confronted with my vanity. Here I had been blessed by God since the start of the year with a great paying job, and an exciting luxury sports car which I never would have thought I would be able to afford. Could I just have been thankful for all these blessings? Nope. I was upset because someone else had the same car. How dare they. Fortunately, my vanity was shown to me and hit me like a splash of icy water on a cold winter's night. I was struck by it, and repented. What an ugly thing vanity is.
